They say about Hungary in March

In fact, Budapest is a wonderful city, and has become a metropolis. First I arrived to Budapest, then came the countryside, which I left with beautiful memories, since I have lived in Petőfi Kiskunság for 22 years. I love this country, I like people who were born here. In the past, there were just a few people from other countries, mainly from the former socialist countries – Cubans, Poles, Bulgarians, Czechoslovakians … Now, when I talk about this, I feel that they were not conspicuous to anyone, somehow the socialist countries made a unit and their mindset and values were the same. Even in the countryside, it was not uncommon that you looked back when a Bulgarian walked past you…, they noticed the black Cubans, but after they claimed that they are Cubans, a hug immediately followed.

Many years have passed since I arrived in Hungary. Imagine going college here, going to work for the first time, hearing the words for the first time like: VAT, tax, childish, kid, health insurance card, canteen payment, school trip… etc. So in my opinion, I’ve became a part of this country .., I’ve became Hungarian. I have a beautiful family, good friends, social life, and I got to know poverty, civic life, and politics.
I’m over 55, I have experienced political changes. I think every stage has good and bad decisions, laws, regulations … I think the most important thing is that people do not rotate like sunflower, do not ruin good social decisions, suggestions, because my opponent said so and I must accept it. It is important to be able to recognize the good, to be able to cope with daily stress and to talk to others. Let’s put our fears aside and learn to smile again.

I’ve lived in Budapest for over 16 years and I never get tired of the architecture and the views of the Danube or the Basilica. I have a background in Civil engineering so I know what’s gone into making the building and structure look so amazing. I find it very easy to make friends here with foreigners and local alike and I love that I can go out and never be alone for more than 5 minutes in the city.

The life in Hungary so far is good, but all depends on people you surround yourself with. Budapest has a lot to offer for foreigners since there are many Facebook groups, chit chat places where you can exchange your experience with them, meet up, etc. Hungarian people are nice and helpful. Hungaary itself is a beautiful country, with great food (although if you are not used to great spices and seasoning it might suprise how many flavours exist here), stunning nature, and plethora of pubs and bars where you can chill with your friends. I recommend this country especially for exchange students – it’s not that expensive as Western Europe, and you will enjoy it a lot!
